Problems with message formatting for individual user

Outlook version is Outlook 2010 and user is running on Windows XP SP3

I have a user that whenever he tries to send a message in plain text it comes out garbled on the recipients end. This only seems to happen to this one individual. Below I have copied what I received when I asked the user to disable his signature, compose a new message and send it in plain text. In my inbox it isn't just boxes, the boxes all have question marks in them but I can't read any text.









Has anyone experienced anything like this before?

This indicates a problem with the font encoding. In File, options, advanced - near the bottom is international options. what encoding is set? Western european (iso) is default for most languages.




In file, options, mail, stationery and fonts, what is the plain text font? +body is generally fine, unless the user changed it - but you can choose a common font like arial to see if it fixes it.
