One other question today.

Is there a way to create an email template or macro that automatically starts the email to the contact I clicek with the words:

Dear (first name):

And I will have other words as part of the template, but want the beginning to be to the first name from the contact I click or open...

Any way to do it?

You can do it one of two ways - both using VBA. See Merge to email using only Outlook - Slipstick Systems - the birthday greeting page sample is all vba, or you can use VBA and bookmarks. Bookmarks work good if you are doing a form letter and want to insert a field in the middle of test. .

Thanks very much. I reviewd the link you gave me and per the earlier help, you sent the macro as a notepad which was better for me. Do you have it as a notepad with only the area of Dear (first name) and no other words in the text area, which I will create in the template.

Thanks again very much, as all your support has been perfect!

You just need to add this line to the other macro

objMsg.Body = "Dear " & ocontact.FullName & vbcrlf & vbcrlf & objMsg.Body

If the formatting doesn't look right and you are using HTML message format use this instead:

objMsg.HTMLBody = "Dear " & ocontact.FullName & vbcrlf & vbcrlf & objMsg.HTMLBody

Once again, works great!! Follow-up is that I want to juse the first name the full name, and the font of the Dear (name) does not match the font of the email template.....

Any way to adjust each of those?

Thanks so much!

Just changed the words in the macro from FullName to FirstName and that did it.

So just need to know how to do the font also if I want a , or a : after the name, how do I add that to the macro as I tried to put the , after the "FullName" and that did not work

No problem....I am learning from you!!

So, just need to know how to do the font for the words Dear (name) I want a coma , or a colon : after the name, is there a way to do those both?

Just figured how to add the colon: objMsg.HTMLBody = "Dear " & oContact.FirstName & ":" & vbCrLf & vbCrLf & objMsg.HTMLBody

So now just need to know how to make the font of the words "Dear (name)" be what the font of words are in the email.

It should be the same font. When you look at the Font in a new message, does it say Fontname (Body) or just Fontname ?

body.png

Fontname....the default font is Calibri 11, and the "Dear (firstname)" showed up as Times New Romen 12
