Outlook 2010 asking for password constantly, won't accept correct one

Hi folks

I check my imap email on three devices - my win 8 laptop, my iphone 4s and my Android tablet. When I have Outlook and my tablet open simultaneously, Outlook seems to "forget" my password and will not send or receive despite my inputting the correct password constantly. My phone has no effect on Outlook.

I searched and found a thread back in 2009 where Diane asked if an ipad was being used, but if not then to click on a link for further help but I couldn't seem to find the solution if the tablet was involved.
what i'm interested in is, how to fix this problem when my tablet is also switched on?

Is outlook or one of the devices configured as with an POP3 account? Problems like this usually only occur with POP3 accounts, not imap.

POP3 puts a lock on the mailbox and outlook has no idea why it can't connect, so it asks for your password.
 
What domain/server is the email account? I know Outlook seems to have problems remembering passwords with Apple's me accounts and Yahoo accounts. It will send and receive though, it just keeps losing the authentication.

Your description sounds like a pop lock though, not authentication issues.

Does outlook work if you turn off the devices?
 
Hi Diane, yes it's fine if I turn off the tablet and restart Outlook, bit a of a pain though.

My mail server is moro.cpanelhosting.co.nz
 
So the tablet seems to be the key? If everything is fine when the tablet is off and it only happens when the tablet is on, the tablet is not configured right or it's mail cli8ent does something to lock the mailbox. I'd remove the account from the tablet and add it back - make sure it is an imap account.
