Outlook 2007 meeting invitations and Lotus Notes

I am the convenor and administer of an association of major financial institutions, the majority of which use Outlook for their employees' e-mail accounts. However, there are some institutions still using Lotus Notes. Meeting invites, without attachments, are not registering in their Lotus Notes calendars.

Is this a common problem for which there is no solution other than to wait for such institutions to transition from Notes to Outlook?
