I have the following issue/ problem / bug in Outlook 2010.

I set up Rules on an IMAP email account. Rules do not filter all the emails I receive. Sometimes proper email goes to the assigned folder and other times emails from the same sender stay in inbox and do not move to the assigned folder.

All the rules are set based on the “from” option. For example email from x@x.com must be delivered in x folder and email from y@x.com must be delivered in y folder.

Occasionally it works but very often it does not work and emails stay in inbox folder.

Over the last month I am trying to figure out what the problem is. I could not find any solution in forums. I set again and again the rules, followed the instructions of proper setting of rules but the problem remains.

From the Server point of view, I was informed by Hosteurope that this is not a server issue.

I tried to install several Antivirus, I configured them to not control Outlook but problem remains. I also tried with de-activated Antivirus or even without any Antivirus but the problem still remains.

Does anyone have any idea or solution?

Well, I'm 99.9% sure its not the server - the rules run client side.

Are you downloading full messages? That is a requirement for rules to work.

Rather than using From people or group, try with specific words in the sender's address. You can use the full address as the "specific words".

Thank you for your reply. It worked with your directions.

In case i want to sync the imap folders in several devices how could i do it? Do i need something more, for example an email server that will download the emails for the web email server? when i read an email from a mobile phone then the email is not directed in the appropriate folder and remains in inbox.

When you use imap, you just need to set the accounts up on the devices. Outlook rules only run on the mail downloads - if you want it moved on the server, you need to create rules on the server (using your web mail portal). If you want them moved after reading on the mobile device, you need to move them yourself.

If we enable rules in webmail portal will the folders be able to sync in several devices?

If we enable rules in webmail portal and in outlook will they conflict each other?

If we only set up filters using webmail portal will they work only if we log in webmail or the configuration of the filters will be applied also to the Outlook folders?

Is there any other way that can be applied in order that the email client can sync all his emails to the proper folders using IMAP filters?
