Multiple mailbox incomign alert

Why when you have multiple mailbox stacked on top of one another can you only see the "envelope icon" for new mail for "personal" i.e. main account?


I found multiple threads online that basically said this is impossible for example:

However this below posting makes it sound like you CAN receive alerts for multiple accounts.

Any insight? Thanks so much in advance!




Also is a there a VBA work around ? I see there was a VBA forum on here but it said it's currently closed and I didn't see another one.

I have NO clue what my outlook settings are besides the fact am currently using outlook '07 but will be moving to '10 in a few months. It wouldn't let me create an account without answers those questions ( no NA option available) so if you answer depends on what's in my profile I don't know if it's correct or not.
 
You should receive alerts for all accounts in the profile - except imap & Hotmail can be goofy, so you might get alerts for some mail but not all new mail in those accounts.




I get all new mail alerts for all 3 exchange mailboxes in my profile.
 
Thanks for the reply. Perhaps I should have clarified as I think I maybe didn't give enough/correct type of information.... the multiple postings I was viewing on the internet that were experiencing the same thing weren't using things like a personal e-mail account say like gmail and some external type of e-mail like hotmail.

It's when you are working with a work e-mail account in outlook and you have your personal "employee" mailbox in addition to other mailboxs that are "shared" type mailboxes. If you log-in into each mailbox independently you of course see new e-mail alerts. However if you "stack" the outlook accounts ( so you can interact with them at the same time, as many people do) i.e. your "personal " account is on the top left of the list / folder structure and then there is another mailbox underneath, that's when you only get alerts for the "main" personal account.

If you think it is possible that this should be displaying, please let me know if you know what I can do to make it work.
