Dear Outlook Community - I apologise if I am starting a new thread on an old topic but I am new and I couldn't find anything. I am running Outlook 2013 on a trial basis. I have set up my usual email address but it has not populated my folders or my contacts. I was under the impression that once I added an email account the folders (sub-folders of my inbox created for my contacts) would automatically populate as would the contacts themselves. Am I doing something wrong or is this because I am running a trial version? I will appreciate any help anyone can give me. Many Thanks, Elayne
 
You need to use IMAP, not pop3 to sync folders online with Outlook. (Or Outlook.com/Hotmail or Exchange server will also sync folders.)

Does your email account support IMAP? If so you need to remove the pop3 account and add it back as IMAP.
 
My missing sub folders happen SOMETIMES when I start Outlook 2013. The Inbox and Sent are there and maybe some but not all of my sub folders. Restarting Outlook normally restores the missing folders.
Any suggestions for a permanent solution?
Using Outlook 2013 Windows 8 .1 64 bit POP 3 web account.
