EAS vs. IMAP

When initially setting up outlook 2013 (purchased via Office 365), I guess I selected set up automatically. Outlook created an Exchange Active Sync account.

Will I have much more flexibility having this account as an IMAP account ?

One feature I like about my gmail account, was that I could choose what files to view in IMAP, so I would not have a full folder list to always scroll through. Does Outlook 2013 have this ability ?
 
You can subscribe to folders in IMAP but not in EAS - EAS is everything. The big difference is that IMAP is mail only, EAS is mail, calendar, contacts. If you don't need calendar and contact sync, then IMAP will be fine.
 
Thanks Diane ! I do want all (mail/contacts/calendar) to sync. I will leave as a EAS account.

Can I hide or not make available some folders ? I have some folders I dont need to view anymore, but need to keep the emails, how can I hide those ?

Also, when looking at my account on my iphone..I see EVERY folder I created...would like an option to where I see only the folders I need to see.

No, you can't hide folders in EAS. AFAIk, you can't hide them on the iPhone either.

You can unsubscribe to folders in IMAP, but of course, you don't sync calendar and contacts.
