Outlook 365 blocked by Google popup

When opened, OL365 is immediately obscured by a popup asking for Gmail login. When I log in to my valid Gmail account, a second dialog asks about sharing data between OL and Gmail. When I approve that, I quickly get a window : Sorry, we could not sign you in to google-IMAP. Try again later." If I close that dialog, the popup is back.
I've read through Diane's excellent article on IMAP configuration, but I'm still unclear. There is Gmail account in my Outlook365 profile that seemed to be working OK. Most of all, I would like to shut down the popup which even appears over other web pages until Outlook365 is shut down. OL365 is out of reach. firefox_DU4g5f5ZM6.png
 
I know you said the box disappears when you close Outlook but I am not convinced it is part of Outlook. Does it have a box on the taskbar associated with it? Have you looked in Task Manager to see if there is a browser running that is responsible for it?

Try checking your Outlook add ons, or start Outlook in Safe Mode.
 
Vincenzo, wanted you to know your suggestion (Safe Mode) cleared things up. I don't know what it did to block the popup, but after starting once in safe mode, it restarted in a normal fashion. Thanks very much for your help.
