HOw to get rid of multiple recurrent appointments that are all the same

I don't know how it happened but all of a sudden I have what seems like a zillion of the same appointment on my Outlook calendar. I spent at least 30 minutes deleting each one of the series and they are still there. HELP please. HOw can I delete more than one at a time or better yet, all of them?

Are you syncing with a smart phone?

When you delete them, switch to a list view - it should be faster. View > Current View > All appointments or search for the subject - search results are in a list view.
