Hello,

I changed my mail provider from Office 365 Exchange to a 1and1 MailExhange. They use IMAP accounts. I am using Outlook 2010. After I created the new account, I copied all the mail entries from my old folders to the new folders to th new one by drag and drop. But then I realized, I could not transfer my calendar settings, contacts etc. under IMAP. So I started using the backup pst file I created before I moved to 1and1. But now, my "outbox" is under this pst, not under the IMAP is using, so my emails are not being sent anymore (though I am getting emails). How can I create a new profile, and be able to move all my emails, calendar entries, contact info to the new profile with new proper pst file without loosing any information and be able to sent and receive email? Sorry, I messed up badly; done things I should not have done. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

It's not messed up that bad - you need to use a pst file with IMAP accounts for calendar, contacts, and the outbox.

Do you get any send and receive error messages? Go to File, Account Settings, double click on the email account then More Settings. On the Outgoing server tab, are you authenticating with the server? What port are you using on the Advanced tab?

Thank you for your encouraging words. Yes. I get "!Task 'girit@xxxx.com - sending' reported (0x8004010F) :'Outlook data file cannot be accessed' error, when I send an email from this account. I can send teh same email from another account fine. And this is because, the IMAP account is pointing to "girit@xxxx.com (3).pst', but the default pst file is using the "2014.pst ' data file and I cannot change this! When I click on the 'girit@xxxx.com (3).pst' file to select that one as the default data file, the 'set as default' option gets disabled. So, the emails come to the 'girit@xxxx.pst' file which has the 'Inbox', and the outgoing mail goes to the default pst file ('2014.pst') which has the "outbox'. I do not know how to do set these correctly!?

All the port settings in the advance tab are as recommended by 1and1 (993 for IMAP, 587 for SMTP). So, I believe they are OK. If I can point both the incoming and the outgoing mail to the same data file, all would be OK.
 
Hello Diana,

After reading a lot of internet responses, I deleted my messed up account and created a new one. All is working now. I can send emails from this account as well. Thank you as usual for your kind help.
