Pop Server Changing Verizon/Aol to Yahoo

Getting a popup with the server changed smpt.mail.yahoo.com when it should be pop.mail.verizon.net

Have tried unsuccessfully to change in server settings and get an "unable to change" message from Outlook

Had set up 2-step authentication with app generated password, tried that, nothing.

cannot get emails to come into Outlook.
 
smtp should be for sending mail, not incoming.

Is your account hosted on yahoo? If so, you definitely need the app password in outlook, even if 2FA or the other security features are not enabled. Incoming should work with either the Verizon server or the yahoo pop server - both should use 995 /SSL.

Hi Diane, Thanks for your quick response. I've see your reply to other members. No, my email is hosted on AOL, not yahoo. Settings are supposed to be pop.mail.verizon.net for server; it keeps coming up smtp.mail.yahoo.com. Also, Incoming, should be POP3, pop.verizon.net with port settings of POP3-995-SSL and then for outgoing smtp.verizon.net settings smtp-465-SSL. I can't get any of these changes to be accepted AND I tried pasting in the app generated password no luck.
 
I don't even get these options in the "old gray box". I'm on Outlook for Microsoft 365 64 bit. Is the password supposed to be my outlook password or the special one from the app generated password?

Accessing through "old gray box"

Account Type: POP3
Incoming: pop.mail.verizon.net
Outgoing: smtp.mail.verizon.net

Advanced Settings:
Incoming Server (POP3) 995
Outgoing Server (SMTP) 465
Server Requires Encrypted Connection box is checked
Use the following type of encrypted connection SSL/TLS


Error messages:

Log onto incoming mail server (POP3): Cannot find the email server. Verify the server information in your account properties.
Send test email message: Cannot find the email server. Verify the server information in your account properties.

I'm not sure which password is saved...the password for Outlook OR the special code.

Still no luck.
 
DID IT!!!

I had the wrong pop info, it actually is just pop.verizon.net and smtp.verizon.net (no "mail" in the server address).

PHEW

Working on this since 9am this morning! Thank you for your steps! What a hassle that this is not anywhere else!
