Configuring a new IMAP email account in Outlook 2007

I recently changed over from a POP3 account to an IMAP account. After configuring the new account via Tools, New Account, Outlook is now displaying both the old POP3 account and IMAP account and, while in the IMAP account, it is now not possible to delete emails. Any thought?

Is it displaying the old pop3 account or the old pop3 data file? If you didn't remove the data file in file, account settings, data files, you'll have 2 listed in the folder list. FWIW, I recommend using the old pst for calendar and contacts - it's safer.

When you delete mail from an imap account it's marked for deletion and not deleted until you purge the folder.

Thanks Diane, I see how the purging works and that is good to go. I am looking at the data files now, one named Personal Folders and one named with my email address (along with two archive folders and a Business Contacts folder). Not sure which or whether to delete any of them, safety is not a huge issue for me.

The one with your email address should be email@address.com.ost in File, Account Settings, Data Files. That would be your imap data file. Business Contacts is for the Business Contacts manager. If you aren;t using it, disable the contact manager addin and delete the entry in Data files. Archive folders are stuff that was archived - you can remove them from outlook and they won't be deleted from the drive.
