I have a user who is in the process of switching from a laptop to a desktop. Outlook 2013 on the laptop works perfectly. He installed 2013 on the desktop and at a certain point came to me to get settings and password information to complete the setup. I copied the PST to the new machine, it's pop 3 I entered his password it passed all the tests, but instead of opening his mailbox, it demanded a data file password. There is none, on the laptop it opens perfectly, on the desktop it wants this password. I looked online and saw to run the repair tool which I did 3 times. One time it said it found 33 errors, the others nothing. Again this exact same PST works on the other machine.
I eventually gave up and uninstalled office and am reinstalling it now, what could possible have caused this and if reinstalling office does NOT fix it, what am I supposed to do? I already tried renaming the PST and still same thing it keeps insisting there is a password when there is none.
Apparently this is not uncommon but I have yet to find anybody that has actually solved the problem?
