Hello all,
This is my first post.
I have used Diane's helpful articles to setup two accounts in my Outlook 2010 profile... 1 - Yahoo (PST) as my default email, and 2 - Outlook.com (OST) as my default data file so that I can sync my calendar etc. (other than email) from my smart phone to my Outlook 2010 windows client. So email goes to one, and everything thing else goes to the other. It's been working fine until for no apparent reason I start getting "Microsoft Outlook cannot connect to the server". After much troubleshooting (scanpst, disable add-in's, and much more) still no joy. After some testing lead me to suspect it was the outlook.com account (and not the Yahoo), I removed the outlook.com from the profile with the intention of recreating it. However, when I follow the same process as years before (simply adding the email address for auto-configure) it does ask me to restart outlook, but then nothing has changed and the account is not added. it doesn't prompt for a password when adding the outlook.com account, and I can't seem to add it back to my profile. One more thing... the account before I removed it had a long server name for exchange... I think you know what I mean... really cryptic. After getting nowhere I decided to check the "manually configure server settings" option and it shows something like "outlook.office365.com" for the server name.
Is this my outlook app having issues, or has Microsoft changed the backend online outlook.com product so that this solution no longer will work?
Much thanks and gratitude for any assistance...
