Hi,

I've searched and can't find this specific problem. I freshly installed outlook 2010 on a new win 7 Toshiba laptop, 64 bit and instead of the single personal folders view I had on the old Windows XP box, with all of the usual sub-folders, I'm getting two accounts, one is my email account and the other is simply labeled "outlook data file" both of which have an in box, an outbox, drafts, deleted items, etc. I would like to get rid of the useless outlook data file and just have the one inbox for the single email account that is currently being treated as though it is an additional account.
 
What type of email accounts? IMAP accounts (because they are server-based) require their own data file. They fon't support calendar and contacts so you need a local file for these items.




POP3 can be delivered to one folder - go to file, account settings, select the account the click the change folder button at the bottom.

Thanks Diane. I ended up just copying the old .pst file into the proper directory and then deleting the account I had set up that caused all the problems. I then re-created the same account with the data being saved to my old/new .pst file and everything was the way it should be. Thanks again. BTW it is a POP3 account.
