Syncing ipad contacts to Outlook 2007 on my PC

Somehow I have lost almost all of my contacts and my calendar in Outlook 2007 on my PC. The backup .pst file I have only will restore my emails, but no contacts or calendar info is restored.

my question is this...I had been syncing my iPad with Outlook before this problem happiened. If I sync my iPad contacts with Outlook 2007 on my PC now, will the contacts from my iPad be sent to Outlook on my PC, or will the the iPad contacts be wiped out and replaced with the greatly reduced amount of contacts from Outlook from the PC.

I don't want to take the chance of deleting all of my contacts on the iPad. I only want to sync the contacts from the iPad to Outlook on the PC, not from Outlook to the iPad.

Are you using iTunes to sync? Make sure you set it to do a one-way sync. If you use iCloud, it shouldn't delete the calendar and contacts as it will be the master copy.

Thanks for your response. I don't see that there is a way of choosing which direction syncing occurs. Am I missing something? I just don't want there to be a chance that it syncs the wrong way. I need it to definitely sync the contacts from the iPad to Outlook on my PC, not the other way around. I only sync through iTunes, not through iCloud.
 
Which iTunes do you have installed? I was told tonight that apple removed outlook sync from the latest iTunes.

The sync settings should be in the iTunes options but I'll need to check in iTunes to be sure but i don't have it on this computer.
