How is the BCM connecting to the shared database?

What authentication methods are supported

Is it possible to change the authentication method for BCM from OS account to sql account?

If yes how?

Outlook passes the username and password used to log into the computer to the shared db. You need an account on the computer hosting the shared db that corresponds to the username and using the same password.

No, its not possible to change it to use a different account - I asked about this because Windows 8 computers using a Microsoft Account logon can't connect to a shared db.

it's compatible in that it will run on windows 8 (I have it on my 3 computers + a couple of virtual machines i use for testing). The big issue is windows logons and sharing - bcm passes the logged on user account to the shared db.

The windows account login issue only applies to remote db hosted on a SQL server - i don't think that will change. If you share a db between computers, windows account logons works (all 3 of my system use windows accounts and i share the desktop db).

When i have time, I'll try installing SQL on win8 and see if the windows account works with sql if the os supports windows logon.
