Outloo 2013 consuming huge amounts of Bandwidth

Hoping for some help , we have a few clients on Outlook 2013 using Imap with Dovecot server . Outlook 2013 is creating a huge amount of internet traffic when clients are synchronising with the server ... I see lots of complaints about this issue but no resolve yet ? Cant seem to get a straight comment or advice from Microsoft on this either .Please help :) ??
 
I thought this was addressed by an update (I could be wrong though.) Do you have all updates installed?

I'd try making a new profile - if some of the users have large mailboxes, you'll want to test it with user with a small mailbox.
