So is there any rational explanation as to why the #$%* iPad/iTunes won't synchronize Outlook's Tasks with iPad's Reminders? It would seem as one of the most natural things in the universe.

I mean, is there any real/technical reason for this lack of functionality, or is it simply about turf wars?

Is there any quick and efficient workaround for this?

(I did once try some "third party app" (they said it would work with Tasks, but I wasn't able to find them anywhere) which only introduced more mess into the Calendar...)

Tasks should sync via iCloud - they are reminders on the device. If you are using Hotmail as the go between, the problem is with Outlook <==>Hotmail sync. At the time they developed the Hotmail connector, Hotmail didn't have tasks. Until Winphone 7 and lack of desktop sync, Hotmail tasks had a very low uptake rate - like 1%. They decided to support EAS in Outlook 2013 and it supports tasks natively.... but i do not expect changes to the Hotmail connector and i don't know if they will release an EAS connector.
