Hi, I was hoping someone could help me with this small but annoying change in Outlook 2013 "People Pane". In the Outlook 2010 "People Pane" there was a button labeled "+ Add" which appeared underneath a person's picture which allowed you to easily send them a request to become connected in social media, such as LinkedIn (See 1st screen shot).

Now in the Outlook 2013 "People Pane" that button is missing
. (See 2nd Screen shot)

I'm curious if this is a bug or by design. If by design, it's really annoying when Microsoft removes functionality in newer versions after you get used to using it. I have found a LONG way of doing the same thing by (1) clicking on the person's picture, (2) Click on the "Ellipses" button, and (3) Drill down to the social media button... but this is soooo inconvenient compared to the original method. Does anyone know if there's a way to get that "+Add" button back? Thanks in advance for your help.

It's by design. They cleaned up the clutter in the pane - and most people never used the button. Those who did, often used it for Facebook and Facebook decided to disable the feature by removing the webpage it pointed to. Of course, because the button is so visible, everyone tried it then blamed outlook.

Thanks for the quick response Diane.

Your answer does make sense. For me though, I found it a great help in connecting with people on LinkedIn (not much of a FaceBook user). I'm curious if you know of an easier way to connect with people on LinkedIn through Outlook than the way I described in my first post. If not, thanks for responding.

Regards,

Rob

Going though the Contact Card is the only way - the contact card is accessible from the message header or the people pane - right click or hover over the address in the header and it'll popup.

OK...thanks for your feedback. I really appreciate it.
