I have been getting all my Gmail on Outlook 2010 since a week ago when my issue was resolved.

Today I ran a security check on Google to make my Gmail as secure as possible. It found that I had a third party accessing my Gmail, it showed that it was ThunderBird which is what I used to get my Gmail before setting it up on Outlook 2010. Since I wasn't going to use ThunderBird to access Gmail any longer I removed access to the third party access ( ThunderBird ) as soon as I did that I could no longer get my Gmail in Outlook 2010. It has to be related to me removing third party access to ThunderBird.

I removed Gmail from Outlook and re-added it and it still doesn't work, I kept getting the popup box that shows my login info, no matter what I do it keeps popping up and Gmail doesn't connect to servers.

I Googled how to give third party access and everything I read says that under security settings in Gmail there is a third party section where I can manage access. I don't have that under my security settings. So now I removed Gmail form Outlook 2010 otherwise that popup login box keeps popping up and I can do a thing.

I would appreciate any and all help
Ron

***UPDATE***
There is no "manage third party access " in Google security settings. The fix is to enable "Allow less secure apps to access Gmail"

By default Google turns it off to make Gmail more secure, Google tells you it is not recommended to turn it on so I didn't, even though I wanted to try it.

I posted here and Google help community and the reply I got from the Google help community was to turn on "Allow less secure apps to access Gmail"

I should get brownie points for posting a question and then finding my own answer..........LMAO

Oh, and if outlook errors trying to check gmail, check that setting first - google like to turn it off. It should stay on if you only access from a desktop, but if you use a laptop and change ip's, it will cut you off. BTDT, too many times before I gave up and turned on 2FA.

I only use my desktop, too old to trust my phone........lol I find it amazing how most younger and business people use their phones to live on. there is no way I would have my passwords ( I used RoboForm for all my logins ) if I lost my phone and wasn't logged out people could access my banking etc. so I am a desktop user and always will be :)

I felt the same way about my phone - when I had an iPhone 6. It was *slow*. I finally replaced it with an iPhone 12 and wow - I was shocked at much much easier it is to use when I don't need to hurry up and wait.

With me and keeping my life on my phone it wasn't the speed of the phone it was the risk of losing it and then if someone found it before I did, they would have access to all my info and accounts. I decided years ago there is nothing that I can't wait until I get home to check my desktop.......lol

Does 2FA make you confirm it's you in Outlook? or just when you login from the web? I do change my ip using a VPN so if that will affect Outlook 2FA might be a good idea as long as I don't have to worry about it asking me to verify every time outlook checks for mail.
