Is there a way to create new fields from scratch whereby those fields allow the user to select options from a drop down menu, in much the same way as the field 'Status' has a number of pre-input options for the user to select ? I have read that something like this is possible in designing forms although I am struggling to incorporate this in the task view section. Essentially I would like to track tasks by using a number of customised fields like this.

I understand partly how to do this, but what I am struggling with is how this fits into placing this in the Field Chooser in Tasks.

Do I need to set-up the form in a specific place or save it so that's it can be found in Field Chooser ?

You need to publish the form in the folder where you want to use it. The field in a folder view will not have dropdowns but values can by typed in or if selected on the custom form will display.

Thanks. I have worked out how to publish in the folder and as you rightly say it doesn't show the dropdown so I have to click into the field to select. Is there no way of doing it so the dropdown is visible in the list view as for the default field 'Status' ? In list view, you can select the options straight off.
