Sync v2003 with iPhone/iCloud

I have outlook 2003 on my PC, and an iPhone 4. Currently, I manually sync them via iTunes. If I choose to use the i-cloud, I can have calendar and contacts update automatically which is great, but then I can't sync to outlook anymore. Itunes tells me to use icloud and greys out the option to sync with outlook. I prefer using the outlook calendar on my PC. I-cloud does work with newer versions of outlook but I refuse to spend any more money on outlook. So my wish is to find a way to have calendar and contact updates made on my phone "beam" immediately to my PC's outlook 2003 and Vica-versa. Any suggestions

That's a tough one. AFAIK, you will need to disable iCloud and use iTunes - there is no way that I know of, to sync outlook 2003 with the iCloud.

Thanks for the reply (and all of your past help!) I have so many questions I'm not really sure where to post so I'm gonna ask some in this reply.-- 1-- Can I upgrade to a newer version of Outlook ('07? '10?) at a lesser cost than buying it? I see most places charging around $110. --2-- When I did successfully sync my iCloud/iPhone calendars the result was four separate calendars in outlook (my original and 3 created in iCloud for work/family/ school events.). I could check one at a time to view or view two side-by-side but I was unable to combine them. How would I combine individual calendars? --3-- As a result of these sync attempts, my main calendar has the number 123 in perenthesis next to it in the left pane. It's related to the number of events that were imported during the sync. What does that mean and what should I do about it? Thanks again! You've been very helpful!

1. Office 2010 has upgrade pricing, office 2013 does not. Not sure if you can find office 2010 any more though.

2. use list view, select all, drag to the other calendar.

3. It's probably the # of "unread" appointments. You can right click on the folder and choose marl all read.

If you want to use iCloud, you will have to upgrade Outlook to 2007 or higher.

If you want to use iTunes-sync instead, I think you have to uninstall iCloud Control Panel (and give up all iCloud abilities like PhotoStream). I suggest you backup your Outlook .PST file also if you haven't already. My experience is that iTunes detection of iCloud on the system is what generates those option messages (not that you are actually using iCloud's Outlook functions). If iTunes still thinks iCloud is installed, you might have to manually remove or disable the Addins that iCloud adds to Outlook, or even something else.

While I'm using iCloud now, at first I did some testing. I installed iCloud and played with it. I then un-installed it (told it to save data). I even restored my .PST file. IIRC, iTunes still thought iCloud was handling sync-ing of items on "Info" page/tab (mostly Outlook items). I ended up re-installing iCloud so it wasn't a problem, but it did seem like buggy behavior.

You can have both installed, but yes, if iTunes thinks iCloud is handling the sync, you can't use it to sync. It's possible to reset the device so you can configure iTunes to handle the sync.
