I just moved from Outlook 2010 to Outlook 2013. In the process I deleted the ost file and let 2013 create a new one. The .ost file in 2010 was 12 GB (I have several years of mail), both on my desktop and laptop. The .ost file for 2013 is 3 GB! It sure looks like everything has resynced, but is this a cause for concern? Microsoft claimed that 2013 ost files could be 40% smaller, but this is more like 85% smaller! Compression technology has not improved that much, unless the previous file was just ridiculously bloated.
Anyhow, just wondered if anyone else has observed this type of reduction in .ost file size. Don't want to wake up one day and notice a ton of things missing I thought were there.
Only other thing I can think of is I run Microsoft Dynamics CRM. Perhaps some of that is gets stored in the .ost and with the recent CRM change that is also reducing space.
Thanks
