I was using iCloud and Outlook seamlessly until a month ago when it just stopped syncing from my PC (devices sync fine to icloud). I have uninstalled, re=installed, set up my icloud email account in Outlook (which works fine), but nothing works. Everytime I go into the iCloud control panel, there is no box next to calendar, contacts, or notes.

Can anyone out there help me? Now that I've uninstalled and reinstalled, my Outlook icloud calendar and contacts are frozen! I will gladly pay tech support to just do it for me because I am so tired of wasting my time with this.

Thanks!

Randi

Are you using iCloud 1 or iCloud 2? (ICloud 2 has one box to select Mail, Calendar, contacts, tasks - iCloud 1 has separate selections for mail, calendar and contacts)

did you sign out of iCloud and then sign back in?

what do you mean by 'frozen'?

Diane,

I'm using iCloud 2. I have uninstalled, reinstalled, rebooted and nothing is working. Downloaded it into my laptop to see if it would work there, and it installed perfectly and works perfectly.

On my PC I continually get a box telling me to go to my control panel to repair iCloud. I do that and get the box again. It's almost like something in my computer is stopping iCloud from installing correctly. On the iCloud forum someone said that they had to delete a mail.pst file. But I can't find that on my PC. I'm stumped...and anxious to have my contacts and calendar working again.

Can you help?

Randi

Exit the iCloud applet and go to C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\EA5A7B1F-55B8-45AC-9BD7-DEF590241414.aplzod and delete the contents. (the GUID # might be different) iCloud will rebuild it when you restart it.

Diane,

A little more investigation...

Tried to follow this path from Outlook accounts, but you can see it's nowhere to be found.

Thanks!

Randi

In looking at your folder screenshot, did you move the user folders?

The folders in the user path are normally hidden and you can either copy the path from the dialog or type %localappdata%\Microsoft\Outlook into windows explorer to find them.

Marty,

I tried that search and it came up empty. Also, I didn't move any of the folders. The Office 2010 program was added by a computer tech person who is not responding to my emails for help, other than sending me an iCloud forum screen that talks about how you should get rid of iCloud with Outlook.

Any other suggestions?

Randi

iCloud is not THAT bad - it's not perfect by any means, but once you understand the idiosyncrasies it works pretty good. iCloud and Outlook Sync Problems and Solutions

Your second screenshot with the folder tree is not right - You should have a randi's pc folder in the user path - that is where outlook says the pst is, but its not there. Are you using junction points or something to repoint the folders?

I did find a Randi's PC folder in the user path. Here's a screen capture. Not sure what a junction point is. You can see that I also have Randi's PC on it's own, about the C folder. I'm assuming they are the same?

In Outlook 2007 I could try to export a file and then see where the pst is. But in 2010 version, I can't even see how to export a file. My former computer guy installed Office 2010 from his own copy. I don't even have one to uninstall and reinstall.Outlook help 3.JPG

I also just reinstalled iCloud for the 4th time. On the previous attempts, all of my icloud folders remained in Outlook, but just weren't accessible. Now the folders are GONE!...all of my calendar and all of my contacts!!! Since I had been using this exclusively before I realized it wasn't syncing, that was my most current calendar and contact list.

The one under Desktop is a user-friendly version of the one under C:\users\. If you don't know what junction points, you aren't using it.

I'm glad you called him a former computer guy - it sounds like he installed an illegal copy. To export a pst go to File, Open, Import - export.

If everything is on the iphone, they aren't lost. Did you sign in to iCloud - or sign out then sign back in?

They're on the iPhone and iPad, but for a month I was only inputing on my PC and didn't realize they weren't syncing with iphone and ipad. so those will be lost now.

Yes, I have signed in and out of iCloud many times...still nothing.

don't know what to do next. Nothing in Randi's PC folder looks like it is linked to outlook. It's like something is running that is stopping iCloud from repairing or installing correctly. Every single time I get a box that keeps telling me to repair it. Now it is not even showing an iCloud folder in Outlook.

I also can't seem to find outlook in the C: tree. any suggestions?

Diane,

I just did a plain old Outlook search and may have found something! I see aplzod...here's the saved screen. should I delete them?

Outlook help 4.jpg

No, don't delete those. They are installation files.

Open windows explorer. Type %localappdata% in the address bar and press enter. Do you see a folder with a long name ending in .aplzod?

Quickie video showing what you should see - icloud-folder - dicot's library

If you don't see the aplzod folder and contents, close Outlook, sign out of iCloud then sign back in.

Did that, and at least it took me to the right place. But...no folder with apzod. Actually, no folders with numbers at all. In the temp file there are lots of folders with numbers all in parentheses. Here is the saved screen.

Thanks! I really appreciate your help

The iCloud is not set up if the folder does not exist. I'd probably uninstall icloud2, reboot then install icloud1 - that is how several fixed the 'run repair' error that won't go away.

Diane, you are the best! I am back in business with Outlook in the iCloud. Thank you so much for sticking with me until it worked.

Randi

Not a problem... now I just need to remember to update my iCloud help page with what I learned n this thread. :)
